My "Little" is Eleven Months!

Jett, you are eleven months old today! Daddy and I said today how fast your first year has gone by. In another short month you will be ONE. What a big boy you are getting to be!

Over the past month you've done a lot of growing!

You're getting two more teeth! Your top incisors are almost in! And they look just precious...I know you're glad that's over! :)

You're almost walking constantly. You've just about got it down! Just over the past couple of days you really made some huge progress. Any day now and you'll be doing it ALL the time.

The hardest part is just getting you to take that first step, and once you do you can walk all over! And it's usually going after Jake, one of your friends, Kasey, or going outside!

You're saying some new words...we've heard "cheese," "more," "bye," "Tigger" ("Tigga"), and "Ty" for sure. And when we ask you what a cow says you say, "Mmmmm!" It's too cute.

You love...giving kisses, playing outside, following Jake around wherever he goes, clapping your hands, dancing to music, Elmo, Tigger & Pooh, Mommy's phone, and looking at books!

We have loved your little baby days but are looking forward to little boy days to come! You are so loved! I love being your Mama!!

10 Months

You are now 10 months old. I am not sure how time has gone so fast but it seems like each month passes more quickly than the next.

A lot has been changing for you, my sweet baby...you are starting to make the change from baby to little boy. Everyday you looks bigger to me! And it's strange to know that we will never again have a 10 month old and in 2 short months you will be a year old...kinda makes me sad.

Over the last month you've learned lots of new words! You can say hi, hey, mama, dada, Jake, Gigi, ball, and Kasey. I was thinking at first you might be my more quiet child but I have been proven wrong! You babble constantly and try repeating everything we say!

You are so close to walking! You take 2 to 3 steps here and there all the time and have gone 5 or 6 at a time a few times too. You can stand soooooo well and walk like a champ with the walker or holding onto our finger. I think once you gets your confidence about it you will be walking everywhere!

You love your brother. I am amazed how well you two play together with your age difference. One of your favorite things to do together is jump on the trampoline! You love for Jake to bounce you and I really think you could stay on there for hours!

You love being outside. Anytime we let you, you want to be out playing in the grass or on the porch with Jake.

I am loving every second watching you learn and explore and say new words and play with Jake and play by yourself and turn into the little person whom we all adore.

Jett I can't believe how fast your first year is going by. We are trying to hold onto every moment with you. We pray that you will always keep your sweet demeanor and happy spirit! God has blessed us by giving you to us and we will forever be grateful for such a precious gift. We love you so much!!!!!!

~8 and 9 Months~

Well I somehow missed updating my sweet Jett at 8 months! Here's just a few things that happened to you during your eighth month of life!

We had LOTS of T-ball games! You were always a trooper out in that heat! You always seemed to be so happy out there...and thankfully we had lots of people to help keep you entertained too! I think you had fun cheering on your big brother. ;)

NaNa, Gran Gran, RaRa, and Mariah and Trey all came for a quick visit. They were happy to see you and were amazed at how big you are getting!

We had lots of playtime outside with your friends. Being outside is for sure one of your favorite things!

You got two teeth this month! Your bottom two came in and I love your toothy little grin!

Right before you turned eight months you started pulling yourself up to stand. You are so determined!

Happy 8 months baby boy!

Jett, you are now NINE months old! I am amazed at how much time has already gone by.

A lot has happened in your ninth month of life!

You now have four teeth! They're all four on the bottom and they are OH SO CUTE!

We finally got a chance to go visit Gran Gran & NaNa & the Mayes in Oklahoma! It was your first long trip in the car and you did so well! We had LOTS of fun and we can't wait to visit again!

You seem to look more and more like your Daddy everyday to me! It's so neat to see that same sweet smile that Daddy has on you too!

We've had lots of playtime with friends!

You are already getting brave...since you've gotten really good at pulling up you're now already trying to let go and see if you can stand alone! And there's been a few times that you have stood for a few seconds before you realized what you were doing!

We're finally getting you to say a couple of words! "Hi" is definitely your favorite right now. You say it to anyone or any picture or animal you see! It's precious!

You love to wave hi and bye bye and you have just about figured out how to clap!

Your little push walker is probably your favorite toy right now! You just go all over the living room walking with that thing! And if it's any sign of what's to come we better watch out! ;)

You are dancing! And you love it! When you hear music you just get to it! It's so cute!

It was your first Fourth of July! We went and watched the parade and walked the square a time or two! You didn't seem to mind the loud sirens! You were very content sitting and watching and taking everything in. You missed your first fireworks because of the burn ban but maybe next year! ;)

Jett - We all love you so much and can't believe how big you are getting! You will be turning into a little boy before we know it. I pray that we will always hold on to these times and cherish every moment because it's over so fast. You are so much fun and so happy and have brought so much JOY to our lives. I thank God for my sweet baby Jett! Happy NINE MONTHS!!

7 Months and Growing!

Happy 7 months baby boy! I cannot believe how fast you are learning and growing!

At your (very late) six month check up you weighed 19 pounds and were 27 1/2 inches long. We are so thankful for another healthy happy baby boy.

You have found your voice and you have been using it a lot. You make lots of different sounds right now but what we hear most is your very loud squeals! It's so cute!

Some firsts this month were...

Your first trip to Wonderland...and even though you only got to watch your brother ride I still think you had fun!

Your first Mother's Day with Mommy. I am so blessed to have two such sweet boys in my life.

All kinds of new food! There really isn't anything you have tried that you didn't like!

You have pulled yourself up to sitting a few times. I can't believe how strong you seem!

And you are crawling!! Now that you are mobile it seems to have relieved the frustration you would sometimes have being in the floor. This was from when you first started crawling...and you're already crawling faster and up on all fours since then! You will follow Mommy all around the house!

I don't want to rush all this growing and learning that you are doing but it does make me look forward to what's to come in the next month!

It's amazing how much love a heart can hold...I love you and your brother more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Lord for my precious boys.

6 Months Old

Our sweet boy Jett,

We can't believe you are half a year old! It's crazy to think that we are halfway to you being ONE.

You are such a happy baby and there's rarely anywhere we go that someone doesn't say that about you! You are always smiling and never have much to fuss about.

I'm not sure what happened to blogging about you being 5 months old but that seems to be our life these days..busy and full! So there hasn't been a lot of time to sit!

Since the last blog you have grown so much already it seems!

You have completely mastered sitting up alone.

You are already getting up on all fours in the floor and starting to rock from front to back like you are trying to crawl!!!! You have actually moved yourself backwards a few times and can go in circles pretty well!

I swear I have heard "mama" here and there a couple of times, especially when you are first awake in your crib in the mornings. But I don't think Daddy is letting me count that as your first word yet!

You are getting more and more interactive and it's so much fun to sit and play with you! Jake is really enjoying it too! He loves getting to spend time with you!

You have been eating baby food and we haven't found one yet that you don't like! You don't seem to be as picky as your brother was at that time. You also try to reach for everything we happen to be eating! And as a result you have gotten to munch on a french fry or two, some cheetos, Graham crackers, peas, and ice cream!!

I keep looking for some teeth but there are none to be found yet. But you are continuing to drool like crazy and you are almost always blowing raspberries or chewing your fingers.

You've conquered the jumperoo...it's so fun to watch you in it!! You really get with it!

Also during this month you had your first Easter! You didn't get to join in on the egg hunting this year, but you sure looked handsome!!

Jake Talks to God

Last night we were relaxing watching some tv when Jake starts talking to God. So we're watching and listening to him when we realize there's a reflection from a mirror on the ceiling. We then know that he believes that the reflection is God! This went on for about 45 minutes to an hour. What a sweet boy we have...I feel so blessed!! Thank you God for my sweet Jake!

Jett turns 4 months old

This past week you turned four months old. Hard to believe that it was a year ago that we first found out you even existed. And now you're four months old and you have completely changed and blessed our lives. You have made us happier than we could have ever imagined!

These days you are learning so much and changing so quickly. You always want whatever is in your hands to go directly in your mouth. And you LOVE to have your hands in your mouth...it's becoming a constant thing! You have tried a few times to get that thumb in your mouth but since your Momma was a thumb sucker she won't let that happen!

You are sitting up really well and can do it for a couple minutes at a time now! What a big strong boy you are! You will be doing it all the time soon I'm sure!

You love to "talk" and make noises. We all love hearing what you have to say and all of your sweet little coos.

You have started eating cereal and you sure love it! You start getting excited when we start putting you in your high chair and then proceed to make the "Mmm" sound as you eat!

You are at such a sweet age and we are just trying to cherish every moment! Time has already gone so quickly!

We love you Jett Dillon, you are the light of our lives!!

3 Months

My sweet boy Jett, you are 3 MONTHS OLD! You are changing daily and your newborn days are gone!

This month you have started sleeping through the night! You are sleeping a solid 10 hours at night and there have been a few mornings you've slept until 9:00 or so!

You have found your hands and feet! And your hands are now almost a permanent fixture in your mouth! We are even wondering if you could possibly be teething a little because you love to chew on your fingers or anything else you happen to be holding.

You have always loved your bouncer but you now enjoy the toys that attach to it much more now. We've also put you in your jumperoo and you REALLY like it! You just stare at all the little lights and toys on it and you are figuring out how to get your legs jumping!

You are getting closer to sitting up alone everyday. You're still a wobbly but I know you will be doing it before we know it because you seem so "strong." Even people who have held you say how strong your little core seems to be. (Just like your brother was too!)

Jett you have such a sweet spirit. When you were first born we commented on how serious you seemed. And although there are still times you are more serious you have definitely found that big smile and we see it VERY often! You are trying your hardest to laugh out loud and we do everything we can think of to help you do it! We've gotten a few giggles out but not quite that big laugh yet.

You still can't quite interact with your brother but you watch every move he makes. He usually has you smiling SO BIG! We can already see how much you love each other. It's so so sweet and I'm excited to see your bond as brothers grow more and more.

We all love you so much Jett Dillon. Every little thing about you! The way you "talk" to us. I love hearing your sweet little "Ohhhh's." The way you watch us. I will look up sometimes when you're in your bouncer/swing/etc and you will just be peacefully watching me. It's oh so sweet and absolutely melts my heart.

We're looking forward to the month coming ahead. You are such a joy little boy.

I truly can't believe Jake is three! Where has the time gone?! Everyone always tells you that the time flies but this seems a little CRAZY! It honestly feels like Jake went to sleep as a baby and woke up a big boy. For his 3rd birthday he wanted a superhero party. So...we turned our garage into the "Batcave!" It was lots of fun and we so enjoyed getting to watch Jake and all his friends together. Batman even made an appearance! ;)

Happy birthday to my growing boy! It has been so much fun watching you grow from a toddler to a little boy. I am so proud of your sweet heart and joyful spirit! I pray that you will dream big and become all that God has created for your little heart to desire. I pray that you never doubt your Mommy and Daddy’s deep desire to be the very best parents for you, and even during those moments when we fail, may you trust God to fill in those gaps with His love.

As I sit here I am sad for all the moments I wasn't able to capture on film or in my mind. I pray that God will keep you close to his heart, guide your steps as you grow, be in your thoughts and your actions and that you will be a light for others.

Jett is TWO Months Old!

I absolutely cannot believe my baby is already two months old! Time is going by so quickly and I can't seem to catch up!

Jett the past two months you have grown so much! We haven't had your two month appointment yet so I don't know exactly what you weigh or measure right now but most of your 0-3 month clothes are too small and you are for sure wear 3 month stuff and a few 3-6 month things! So you have definitely gotten bigger! =)

AND you must be going through a growth spurt at the moment because you are eating all the time and you always think you are hungry!!!

You are getting so personable already. You LOVE for someone to talk to you and to just let you "talk" back to us. And you are always so happy and smiley! We've even heard a few little laughs! I absolutely love how when you smile big you open your mouth as wide as you can. It's the cutest!

You still prefer to be held by someone most of the time but you are getting better about playing in the floor or mommy leaving you in your swing or bouncy chair for a little bit at a time. You are not a big fan of the car seat but you seem to be slowly getting used to it! It was so hard when you would just be crying in your seat and there was nothing we could do for you!

You seem so strong and steady to us already. You like to sit in your bumbo chair and even in our lap you like to have us sit you up. We are amazed at how steady your core seems to be. You also like to stand up a lot! Your little chunky legs are going to be so strong!!

Your sleeping at night is still going great. And sometimes I can't believe how much you're able to sleep. There have been times you have slept in until 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning! That has for sure been different from your brother Jake!!

Jett you are such a GOOD baby! Everyday just gets more fun with you! We love you so much and look forward to watching you grow!!!

Jett is 1 Month Old!

This sweet boy turned one month old on December 4th! I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. Jett having you home with us has been such a blessing. You are such a good baby and we could not have imagined having another little baby SO good! Daddy and I keep telling each other how blessed we are to have two such amazingly good boys.

It has been so fun to watch you grow...you are already getting a little bit of your own personality and look. Initially we knew you looked like big brother Jake. (And you still do!) But the more you grow the more we think you look SO much like Daddy! I didn't really realize how much Jake and I looked alike until I saw how much you and Daddy look alike!

Not only do you look like Daddy there are a few other things that you do that remind me of him also. You are a big sleeper! Jake slept a lot as a baby but nothing compared to you! There have been a few mornings where I'm wondering if I should wake you up because you have slept until 9:00 or 10:00!! You also love to eat...again like Daddy! Ha ha! And so different from Jake. From day one you have been a great eater! Jake on the other hand STILL never wants to eat! Ha ha!

More lately when you are awake during the day you are so HAPPY! You are getting more smiley every day and you have even tried to giggle a few times but couldn't quite get the sound out! You love hearing all of us talk to you but especially big brother. It seems like anything he says makes you smile! TOO CUTE and I can't wait to see your friendship as brothers develop! I can already see the very very beginnings of it!

You have been rolling over from your tummy to your back for the past couple of weeks now. It's amazing to me that you are already strong enough to do that. Jake rolled over very early too but I think you still did a little earlier than even he did.

You seem to enjoy bath time and have actually fallen asleep in there a couple of times because you were so comfy!!

It's hard to tell if there are things you really don't like right now...but if there was anything at the moment it would be your swing. We put you in there and before we can even get it swinging you are wanting out!

You have been an absolute perfect fit into our family and you have made us feel complete. We all love you SO MUCH! You are such a JOY and a true blessing in our lives!!

Mommy feels like all of her dreams have truly come true now that you are here. I have such a sweet husband who loves me no matter what and who is such an amazing and fun Daddy. And now I have the two sweetest and cutest little boys that are my whole world!

It was such a special Thanksgiving for us this year! It was Jett's first Thanksgiving and we got to have almost all of our family get together for the first time in quite a while. It was a day full of story telling and fun! (And some good food too!) We are so blessed on this Thanksgiving and hope yours was too!!

We had a fun filled Halloween this year! Jake went as Batman and all of us adults dressed up too! It was the first year as "grown ups" to wear a costume on Halloween, and it was so much fun! Our night consisted of going to CHS for Halloween Happening, to the event center to see Daddy, to Coach and Gram's for a while, and finally some trick or treating. Then Sunday night we just handed out candy to all the trick or treaters that came by. Jake loved handing out candy as much as he did receiving candy the night before! We had a FUN Halloween and we are already looking forward to next year. Crazy to think that we'll have another little one doing it all with us!

The 1st was my sweet hubby's 25th birthday! I asked him what he wanted for his birthday this year and he had decided on a big tool storage closet (?) for the garage. I teased him saying we must be getting old to be asking for things we actually NEED! Ha ha! I don't remember a birthday that I didn't go get something from Best Buy for Colby!! We went to eat at Texas Firehouse one evening and then again to Logan's with his mom, dad, and sister another night. We LOVE celebrating birthdays, it's always so much fun! Love you Colby, happy birthday!!!

First Day of "School"

Just wanted to share a picture of Jake on his first day of school this year! He is going to mother's day out at In His Hands again this year. He was SO excited and couldn't wait to see all of his friends again! He only goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year but he would probably go everyday if Mommy and Daddy were ready for that! I miss him like crazy all day long and always SO ready to pick him up. But he is having such a fun time and absolutely LOVES it!

28 Weeks!

Last week I had my 28 week prenatal appointment. We are already going for an appointment every other week! It has seriously gone by so fast this time around! It's amazing to know that in 12 short weeks we will have our second sweet boy here with us.

Fortunately we got to see our precious Jett again when we went! The last sonogram we had they didn't get a great picture of his face so Dr. Appel had another one ordered. Colby and Jake got to go with me and it was such a special time for our little family!

He is so beautiful! He has the sweetest face! We are in love! The lady who did our sonogram did all she could to get this boy to wake up! But he was not having it. She wanted to get a good picture with his eyes open but the poor baby was tired! There was once that he opened them just barely for second, but went right back to sleep. It wasn't until the very end when we were done that he decided he would wake up! But if that's a sign of what's to come, we'll take it! Jake isn't a big sleeper, so might be nice to have one that is! Ha ha!

Some other news we got while we were there was number one, he looked perfect. :) He weighs over two pounds at this point. AND from all of the measurements she did he's measuring about TWO WEEKS ahead! Let me tell you, that was some exciting news for his mama. :) She said Dr. Appel isn't big about changing due dates but that she wouldn't be surprised if we had a Halloween baby. Oh my goodness! I guess we will see but as long has he's a healthy happy baby we're happy!

We also got a few 3d sonograms. He looks so much like Jake is some ways. But we've heard different opinions and feel free to share yours! My mom sort of thinks he looks a little like his mommy. :) We will know soon. We feel so blessed to have baby Jett and can't wait for him to join our family!

Jake Time!

We decided to take Jake to Oklahoma City this past week on a little vacation. We wanted him to have some special time before Jett gets here. We tried to do everything we could think of that would be fun for him. The first day we took him to the OKC zoo, which was fun but SO HOT!! Thank goodness that was the only day that we were outside for that extended amount of time.

Another day we took him to this Natural Science museum. He LOVED it. I think it's probably safe to say that he probably had the most fun there. They had a huge dinosaur exhibit with some of the most amazing dinosaurs I'd seen. He would just run from each one yelling "look!" or "oh my goodness!" It was priceless!

After the museum we went and ate at his really fun place in Arcadia, OK called Pops. Someone that Colby works with has family there and suggested it and it was such a cool place. They have over 500 different kinds of soda, lots of older things that are hard to find now. It's like a retro type burger and shake place. Definitely will go there again! Unfortunately this was the only pic I took! It's right outside the front door. The inside really was amazing...this picture doesn't do it justice. (But my two boys are SO CUTE!) =)

We also went to this little fireman's museum and to a different science museum (more like a discovery center). He had fun seeing all the fire trucks and running around the science museum but didn't quite live up to the dinosaurs he had seen the day before!!

We did some other fun things and did a little shopping! We had a GREAT trip and it went by too fast. But, we're glad to be home and we are definitely looking forward to time with Jett and being a family of four!!!!

Here are the very first pictures of our baby boy Jett Dillon. We got these sonogram pictures back in June but I'm just now getting them up! He is beautiful already and we feel so blessed!! Only 15 weeks to go until we meet our sweet boy!

You big brother is so excited and is helping mommy and daddy get everything ready for you! Jake has been a big helper and talks about you and to you ALL the time!

We love you already Jett and we can't wait for you to be here with us!

It's a BOY! We are so blessed and excited to have another little boy! God knows our hearts and has given us more than we could have ever imagined. Monday we got a sonogram where we found out that Jake will have a little brother. That morning we asked him if he was having a baby brother or sister...and he thought he was having a sister! But he is SO excited to be having a brother! When we say our prayers at night he never forgets to pray for baby brother. And he has his own sonogram picture of baby brother in his room that he kisses every night before he goes to bed...what a sweetie.

Just wanted to share our exciting news! We are filled with JOY!

We love you so much already sweet Jett Dillon and we can't wait to meet you!!

Big boy Jake,

It sounds so strange to say we have a two year old! You have grown by leaps & bounds & we couldn't be prouder of what a sweet, smart, good boy you are & we feel completely blessed by you everyday. I'm sad because it doesn't look like time is slowing down any but I'm excited about what the future holds. God is so good! It's been an unforgettable two years.

I have been trying for weeks to catch Jake doing his ABC's and we finally got it this morning! He doesn't know them all perfectly yet but he's got most of the letters down pretty good. It makes me so proud to watch. I can't believe he's big enough to know his letters! Just thought I would share this with you all...it just makes my heart happy!

Today we decided to carve pumpkins, (or "mumpkins" as Jake calls them) while Daddy was off work. These are just cute videos of him talking to his Daddy about carving a monster on the mumpkin. So funny.

This one is also from today...Jake got the giggles and it was TOO CUTE! Daddy filmed it...that's why it's sideways! Ha ha! But still so precious.

Playing Catch Up!

So summer has come and gone and I've failed again at keeping up with blogging! A LOT has happened this summer and we have been SO busy! I'll try to give a quick update...but I will warn you, a lot has been going on in our lives lately!

At the end of August Colby graduated from the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy. We are so proud at all he has accomplished. He has worked SO hard and I couldn't be happier for him!

On the 1st Colby turned 24. We were so lucky to have his family in from out of town and I know Colby was so happy they were here to help celebrate!

Jake went to his first official Canyon football game to support Papa Coach. He had SO much fun! (Mommy and Daddy think he looks pretty good in that Canyon purple!)

Finally I will just leave you with a few pictures of my cute boy. I can't believe how big he's getting...he has such a sweet personality and he is SO FUNNY. We love him so much and are having the BEST time seeing him learn new things everyday. Daddy and Mommy are so proud of what a big boy he is!

(And I promise you he wanted to wear this...we put on his superman pj's and he found the hat and undies and insisted on wearing them! Then we came downstairs and he put on Uncle Bubba's shoes! He's a hoot...and he walked around like this for the rest of the night!)

A Fantastic Fourth

We had such a fun fourth yesterday! Now that Jake's a year older, he was really able to get into it a lot more. We went to the square in Canyon & watched the parade with our families. It was so fun getting to walk the square & see all our friends! & Jake had so much fun watching the parade...he loved all the cars!! =)

Father's Day!!

Saturday evening we spent an early Father's Day with Colby's dad. We took him to eat at Coyote Bluff...(Colby & I's first time to eat there, it's a little "dive" in Amarillo, but has AMAZING burgers! If you've never eaten there, you definitely should!) We had a GREAT time and it was so good to get to celebrate with George!

Sunday afternoon we went to see Pelham 123 and to eat with my dad. It was such a fun afternoon...and we especially enjoyed the bananna splits afterwards!! :) You just can't go wrong with dinner & a movie, (& ice cream!)

Saturday was my parents 29th anniversary so we celebrated by cooking out and relaxing in the yard. It was such a beautiful day and we had SO much fun!

We got Jake's pool out and he had so much fun!

And Jake has turned 16 months old since the last time I blogged. It's crazy how fast he's growing and learning all the time. We look at him at different times and he seems like such a big boy. I'm so proud of him already at his young age. One of the things I'm most proud of is his big heart. Jake never stops amazing me...he always wants to hug and kiss everyone and now he's started saying "love you." He's the sweetest little boy!! Here's a few pictures of the past month.

My little brother got married on the 16th and we went down to Waxahachie for the wedding! He married such an amazing woman. I'm so thankful to her for making my brother so happy and I'm SO excited to have a sister! It was beautiful...here's a few pictures from the weekend.

Here's a little from our Mother's Day weekend!

I woke up in the morning to find this...

My hubby made breakfast for me!! What a sweet hubby! He got me the sweetest charm for Mother's Day. I love it and will probably wear it everyday! :) Inside it has a heart that says My Boys, a "J" for Jake, a red heart, and two little blue hand prints! Jake found mommy the cutest vintage tee shirt...it's the one I'm wearing in the pictures. It has two little boys playing football on it and says "Bring it on!" I LOVE IT! :) My boys made me feel so special! Thank you to my favorite guys!

We actually went to lunch and to a movie with my mom and my Nanny but I didn't get any pictures!! :( I'm so blessed to have such an amazing mom. Thank you for always being here for us, and being my best friend! I love you mom! Here's the sweet necklace my mom got me...there's a neat story behind it. It has a hand print on the back of it and basically symbolizes keeping your baby close to your heart when you're away from each other. Such a special necklace!

Sunday afternoon we went to eat at Cheddars with Colby's mom and dad. After Jake got a little nap in, we headed to the park to play in the rocks and feed the ducks! What a fun day!!

Looks Like Summer!

Despite the past couple of rainy days we've had, it has really started to look and feel like summer! Just wanted to share a few of our first summer fun times!

We were outside earlier this week and Jake found a horny toad! He thought it was SO fun! He kept wanting to hold him but settled on just being able to touch him.

Kasey made sure that the little "lizard" was going to be nice before she let Jake see him!

Thursday night some of the girls came over and we let the kids play. It's amazing how big they've all gotten. I remember sitting around and they were all laying on a blanket together and now they run around like little people!!

Colby and I went on a double date the other night with Matt and Jessica. We had SO much fun! I love having someone to team up with and pick on the boys! :) We went to eat at Pei Wei and then to see a movie.

Well what a whirlwind of events we've had here lately. Life got really crazy really fast and our emotions have been all over the place! I'll give a brief update on what's been going on.

First we had Jessica and Matt's Canyon bridal shower which was amazing and they got some beautiful things! Here's a couple of pictures.

Then on April 21st my mom's sister Debbie passed away very suddenly. Family came in town and the entire family pretty much stayed at mom and dad's house together until after her funeral on Friday. It was so bittersweet in that it was so so good to catch up with family we haven't seen in a while, but I so wish it would have been under better circumstances. I want to say thank you for all of the support, prayers, the phone calls, flowers, and food that everyone brought. You are all such an amazing blessing. God is good...He is who He says He is and to our family that is so comforting. We have felt His arms around us and we have felt His love through ALL of you.

In the meantime, Jake has turned 15 months before our eyes! With everything going on this is probably as much of an update that's going to happen for now. He's still just as cute and smart and funny as ever! ;)

He started this new thing the past few days, he will just talk constantly. It's like he's trying to say something to us, and he KNOWS what he wants but doesn't know how to say it. So instead it's just "Mama...jibberish jibberish...dink (drink) or cacker (cracker)...jibberish jibberish" or whatever it is he's needing. I'm going to have to get it on video so you can really get the full effect because it's really hilarious. But he is saying SO SO many words now! Some of his new things are "ock" (sock), "soo" (shoe), "ank ew" (thank you...yes he can say this!!), "peeeess!" (please), "elbo" (which is actually elmo), "ose" (nose), "eye", "boy", and I'm SURE there's more but those are probably some of the most common.

Since it's been nice outside lately he's gotten to be out to run around and play...which he TOTALLY LOVES. It's really hard to get him to come back in!!

Jake LOVES shoes. I know I've said this before, but the kid is really serious about them. He always wants to wear them, carry them around, point to everyone's shoes they are wearing, trying to put them on...anything that has to do with shoes!! This may be something he got from his mommy...oops! :)

We watched that movie Marley & Me and we felt like we were watching a movie about our life! Seriously. But this picture just makes me think of that movie. Our dog Kasey has started sleeping in Jake's bed with him at night. It's just about the sweetest thing we've ever seen.

Ok well this ended up being longer than I had planned! Guess we just had a lot to update about! Thank you again for all the support and prayers...and we would appreciate continued prayer for our family during this time. Thanks so much. God bless!!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday! Ours was great. We got up and went to church with my mom and dad, Colby's parents, and Matt and Jessica. They had cardboard testimonies for part of the service and it was AMAZING.

After church we went to visit my Ma Maw in the hospital. Jake hadn't gotten to see her in a while, so that was fun!

Then it was off to mom and dad's for the Easter egg hunt and burgers!

It was fun to watch Jake...he understood pretty well on what we wanted him to do. He liked to hold an egg in each hand after he found them, but when he realized there were more than he could physically hold, he started putting them in his Easter basket.

Pretty sure he ate candy most of the day...but we let him, because it was Easter. :)

It was such a special day spent with our families! It was a great time to sit back and reflect and see how blessed we TRULY are. (And to eat a little too much candy!) Happy Easter! He is risen!!!

14 Months

Jake,

I find myself using the same two words to describe you these days...big boy. It's amazing to see how far you have come in your little life so far.

You are such a good boy. We must say it a lot to you because you've picked up on it and we'll hear you every now and then say "good boy." And you just have the biggest smile on your face!

You LOVE being outside and want to be out as much as you can! We've been so thankful for the nice weather and for you to be able to be out so much. You like to go out and ride on your little four wheeler. And now that you've really started figuring out how to run you think it's so fun to run after the dogs!

You still love to read all your books. Some of your favorite books are obviously your My Little Animals Book, Elmo and Abby Want to Play puzzle book, and The Little Mouse The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear. And you're funny because sometimes when you're tired you'll go in your room, get a book and lay down in your bed to read!

You've added a few new animal sounds to your vocabulary...which is so cute. And you really know them well, we can ask you what any animal says, (at any given time in the day), and you don't even have to think about it...the sound just comes right out.

You LOVE music, you always have from the day you were born pretty much. And now, any time you hear music, you start dancing. It's SO cute! You also like to sing, (or for mommy to sing). You like when we sing If You're Happy and You Know It. You know how to clap your hands and stomp your feet at the right times and you think it's so much fun.

We've let you start watching your Praise Baby dvd in your room at night. It's probably not a great habit to start, but occasionally, not every night, we let you lay in your bed and watch it. And usually after a few minutes we'll check on you, and you're sound asleep. But that's the only dvd you will let us do that with. It's too sweet.

You also LOVE shoes. You always want to see our shoes or hold your shoes. You've actually started trying to put them on your feet! And when you can't figure out how to get them on, you give them to me and want me to put them on you.

I love looking at life through your eyes. It's all brand new again. I'm so thankful to God for sending us such a sweet angel.

First Haircut!!

Wednesday Jake got his first haircut. It was getting pretty long in the back so instead of making him walk around with a mullet, we decided to go ahead and have it cut. I realize that we could have definitely done this ourselves, but there is something sort of special about actually taking him into the hairdresser. (And Chris was wanting to do it anyways!) :) He was definitely not thrilled about it, but we got the job done!! I was sad to see the curls go, but he's still just as cute as can be! And Chris did a great job! :)

It's amazing how a haircut can make your baby look like such a big boy...

Happy 13 Months!

Jake, you turned 13 months old on the 23rd. I think each month time gets faster and faster somehow. You learn so much everyday! I am amazed by you and how much you pick up on!

What a talker you are! You are always saying new things, trying to say new things, and wanting us to tell you what EVERYTHING is! You walk around all the time pointing at every little thing waiting for us to tell you what it is. You say a lot, but what we hear the most is daddy, mommy, papa, dog/doggie, water, bath, baby, drink ("dink"), bite, book (we hear this one A LOT, and it actually sounds like "boooook"), katie, kasey, hi, hey, bye bye, and bubba. You talk all the time. So I'm not kidding when I say you say these words a lot. And I'm sure there's more but that's the majority.

When we ask you, you can tell us what a cow says ("booooo"), a dog ("woof woof"), a lion, bear, and tiger (all are "grrrrr" or "roooaaar"), a fish, a lizard (you stick your tongue out), a monkey (you bounce up and down), and an alligator (you go "chomp chomp" with your arms). And like before, I'm sure there's more I'm just not thinking of at the moment.

You are a great eater. At your one year check up you weighed 21 pounds and three weeks later we had to go back in for your cough and you weighed 24 pounds! Goodness! Your favorites right now are any vegetable. I'm sure this will be a shock to you when you're older, but yes right now you love your veggies. You eat peas, carrots, broccoli (You LOVE it), green beans, corn, tomatoes, and you've even had some squash. You're a big fan and most of the time your veggies are the first thing gone off your plate. You also like chicken, pretty much in any form. You've just started eating a little bit of hamburger meat here and there, and you're "OK" with it but I don't think it's your favorite. Cheese. Cookies. You will walk into the kitchen and say "cheese" or "cookie" and stand at the pantry door! It's too cute! You still love all your fruit too. I don't think we've found one yet you haven't liked!

And you've got a mouth FULL of teeth! So it's been nice for you to be able to eat pretty much whatever you want without too much trouble. You've got 13 at the moment and are working on another one or two!

One of your most FAVORITE things right now is reading. Most of the time you won't even play with your other toys. If there is someone, anyone, in the same room with you, you will immediately go and get a book. You walk over to us book in hand and so sweetly say "book?" It melts our hearts! But you're also learning to look at them by yourself and when you do you look like such a little grown up man!!

We've got a drawer in the kitchen that is your drawer with all your plates and bowls in it and you love to go in there and pull them all out and throw them around. You also do this with the pots and pans but more often it's the stuff out of your drawer.

We've also noticed you mimicking little things that we do. Which is so cute. Here's a little clip of you outside and I think you're calling Katie to come to you. And if you listen close you can hear that you're making the kiss sounds to her too!

Oh! Another thing I forgot you say..."Spongebob!" (Sounds like "Sponbob" or sometimes just "bob") You have REALLY gotten into your cartoons. Especially Spongebob. Every time we turn on the t.v. you say "spongebob?" It's hilarious. And you will sit and watch for pretty much as long as it's on the television. Which is nice at times because then mommy can get a few things done!

You're such a joy! You definitely keep us on our toes and it couldn't be any more fun! It's hard to pick out everything from the month that you've learned or started doing because you're just doing and learning so much right now! We love our little boy!

Lately!

It's been a while since we've updated, we have been going, going, and going. But here's what we've been up to lately!

Jake and Bradley have gotten to play since they've been in Canyon. They seem to have more and more fun every time they get together.

We took the boys to Jump N Jive in Amarillo and it was so much fun! We went down the big slides and the boys played on all the fun toys too.

Valentines Day!

Somehow in all the craziness this weekend we didn't get pictures with PaPa & GiGi! But he had a such a fun Valentine's Day with them too!!

One thing is evident, Jake is SO LOVED! I think he had a wonderful Valentines...and we hope you did too!

This video is the last thing...it's just too precious. Jake had finished dinner and was getting tired. That plus the sugar he'd just eaten made for some pretty good giggles!

The Big "ONE"

Our big boy Jake,

Where has the last year gone? It still seems just like yesterday that God brought you to us. This time last year we were at the hospital getting ready for you to come into the world! I remember every minute. I remember first hearing you cry, and it made me cry. I remember when the nurse first brought you to me. You were wrapped up like a little space man, :) and the first thing I thought was how heavy and warm you felt on my chest. The next thing I thought was how much you looked JUST like your daddy! You were so calm. You weren't crying, you were just looking at me like you knew who I was. I will NEVER forget that moment.
Then we brought you home and you have forever changed our lives! What would we do without you? I can tell you that we would definitely not be as happy as we are now with you!
And now you have turned into such a big boy! You're saying all kinds of words...dog, doggie, kasey, daddy, mommy, woof woof, duck, hi, hey, bye, vroom vroom, uh-oh and a few more but those are the most frequent! And we are shocked at how much you already understand. We can ask you what a doggie says, and you say "woof woof," we ask you what a lion says and you say "grrrrr," and we've just started monkey and you respond by bouncing up and down saying "oh oh oh oh!" It's amazing how you have been able to tell the difference between the three animals. I'm trying to catch it on video, but every time I pull it out you get more interested in the camera than what we're trying to get you to say!
Oh! And you also say "two, three." Grandma McCloskey has always counted to five then tickled you! You think it's so funny. But now when we start to count, we'll say "one, then you say "two" "three", and we say four and five!" It's so cute!

You're walking like it's no big deal and you're actually starting to try and run! Woah! Don't know if mommy is ready for that, I can barely keep up with you now!

Sometimes you think you're bigger than you really are. When we go to the grocery store, or anywhere with a cart, you want to push it! And now anywhere we go you want to be down so you can walk. Which is hard at times because you don't understand that everything at your eye level is not yours to play with! :)
For your birthday Papa & Grandma got you a big boy bed. You think it is so fun! You've been slowly starting to sleep in it. You take all your naps in it and you have slept in it all night for about a week. You do so good! It's like you understand that it's a new special thing. And the nights you've slept in it you're just fine! When you wake up in the mornings you don't cry or whine like you sometimes would in your crib because you wanted out. You just get up and we can hear you in your room playing with your toys!
You love other babies and always want to play! Just this past month you started going to the nursery with the other 1 year olds during church. You really love it! And the teachers in there always tell us how good you are! You still love being read to, but a lot of times you will go flip through ALL of your books yourself. :) You like to point at every picture and wait for us to tell you what it is.
You know where your head, ears, and nose is. You're just so smart...and I'm so thankful for that!! We're so proud to see what new things you learn everyday.
You started this funny thing...you will go get a toy, usually a ball, and go sit in the tiny space between the ottoman and the wall. I was picking up around the house one day and I could hear you but couldn't find you! And when I did it was so funny! I thought at first you might have been stuck, so I pulled you out and you hurried as fast as you could back in there!
Oh and I can't forget to mention your favorite puppy dog! Oh my goodness how you love your Kasey! You would follow her around all day if you could. And, if she'd let you, you would probably lay on her all day. You don't really want to play with her, you just want to cuddle. She loves you too...I think it's because you, a) always have food in your hand or on your body somewhere! b) drop down your food to her when you eat...you think that is just hilarious! or c) you leave a trail of food crumbs everywhere you go. :) I have a feeling you two are going to be big buddies the older you get.
Seems like this month has gone by quicker than all the others. I keep hoping it will slow down! But as much as I miss your tiny baby days, I'm excited to continue learning with you!
